Silicone molds for casting home decor - vases, trays, bowls, storage jars, candle holders, silhouette lamps and sculptural objects. These are the larger-format molds in the range, the ones that produce a finished piece of furniture-adjacent decor rather than a trinket.
Why cast decor instead of buying it
A cast plaster vase costs a few dollars in material. The same object in a home store costs thirty. That gap is why decor casting has grown into a business for a lot of makers - the mold pays for itself in two or three casts, and every one after that is margin. It also means you can produce a matching set, which is nearly impossible to buy off the shelf.
Plaster for size, resin for durability
Most large decor pieces are cast in plaster: it is cheap enough to fill a big cavity without wincing, it sets fast, and it gives the matte stone-like finish that reads as expensive. Resin makes more sense for smaller pieces, anything that will get wet, and anything where you want translucency or suspended colour. Vases cast in plaster are decorative, not watertight - use a glass insert or a test tube if they need to hold water.
Sealing and finishing
Raw plaster is porous and will mark. A coat of sealer before painting or waxing makes a cast decor piece behave like a retail object rather than a craft project. Matte varnish keeps the stone look; a wax finish gives it a soft sheen that photographs well if you are selling online.
